In recent rumor reports, the next Wii U will feature motion controllers that attach all over your body, the Xbox 720 will be backwards compatible with Atari 2600 cartridges, and the Playstation 4 will bake a batch of cupcakes for every trophy you earn. Hard to believe? Of course, but it doesn’t stop the press from inventing their own versions of the same claims about the next generation of console gaming. Perhaps instead of trying to lure readers into visiting their web sites by speculating with their imagination, we could break down what we actually know or makes sense.

Anticipation is no stranger to any E3 event, but there are times when it seems greater than others. E3 2011 had many reasons for gamers to get excited about upcoming releases, including a brand new console from Nintendo. After all the press releases have ended and previews showcased, this year’s event displayed many promising titles, new ways to play, and perhaps more questions than before it started. But was everything presented a vision of what we should be craving or do game manufactures need more criticism to truly evolve gaming to a new level?
