Game Dev Story

13 February 2011 No Comments Written By: Jacob

So this game was recommended to me by a close friend primarily in passing. Just an off comment while I was working at my previous employer. So I downloaded it that day. After that my whole week was shot. I was, to say the least, addicted. I started my first company and had no idea what I was doing. Which in most game development companies probably right on the money.

You start off with a small 4 person company, you, your code monkeys and a secretary. With really no cash flow you design PC games to make a buck. Throughout the game companies announce new consoles to develop games for. The licenses star cheap but then get exponentially more expensive. As your company grows so do your offices. Once you make a certain amount of money our secretary suggests a bigger office and with a bigger office comes more space for more employees.

Hiring is done with advertising on the internet to job fairs. Responses come in and you pick your best candidates. Complete with silly names.

You also have the ability, if done correctly, to design your own console for sale in the market. This is

a cash cow on license fees. I have yet to figure out how this works.

The game lasts about 20 game years. It stops recording records after that time. If you create a new game it does however carry over some of the stats from your previous game allowing you to start off with higher level game genres and theme. As I said in the beginning this game is extremely addicting. Get this game on your portable device now!
